Artikelbeschreibung vom Verkäufer

Five volume set, overall in good condition.  Half-bound leather covers with marbled papers over boards.  Leather on all volumes is worn and has some loss.  The spines of volumes III and IV are particularly worn and faded.  Edges of paper covering boards on all volumes also has some loss.  Volume V has a torn area at the bottom of the spine. Some of the volumes have damage to the paper covering the board on the front and/or the back. Internally, all books appear to be sound, with tight binding, no broken hinges, and clean, bright text and pages.  Areas of significant damage have been included in the pictures. Edited by Colonel William Wood, this five volume set relates the history of the Canadian province of Quebec.  Colonel William Charles Henry Wood (1864-1947) was a Canadian historian and naturalist born in Quebec City.  From 1887 until the end of the First World War he served with the Royal Rifles of Canada. Colonel Wood had a close relationship with the literary culture and history of Quebec, and at one time served as the president of the Quebec Literary and Historical Soceity. In addition to his interest in history and literature, he was a passionate naturalist and, amongst other things, a strong advocate for conservancy.  He was heavily involved in scouting as well. The contents of The Storied History of Canada, spread over the five volumes, are as follows: The Story of P.Q. by Colonel William Wood Laurenciana: An Introduction to the King of Waterways Part I Under the Fleur-de-Lis    Act I False Dawn: Jacques Cartier and Roberval: 1534-32    Act II The Forlorn Hope: 1608-63    Act III The Vanguard: 1663-1713    Act IV French France and French-Canadians: 1700-60    Act V The Withering of the Fleur-De-Lis: 1745-63 Part II Under the Union Jack: 1760-1927    Act I The Changin of the Flag: 1760-74    Act II The Portentous Province: 1774-83    Act III Parliamentary Beginnings: 1783-1840    Act IV Makeshift and Magnet, 1840-67    Act V The Growing Modern Province, 1867-1927 Unique Quebec, by Colonel William Wood I.
