Two pages, 4to, in narrow "frame" of stiffer paper. "I am happy to learn from yr correspondence with the Admiral that your negotiations with the Pasha of Janina have been quite successful. I felt that a letter from the Great Vizier expressed in general terms would answer every practical purpose; and I have now only to hope, in full [concurrence?] with Sir Edward Owen's opinion that the service to be performed under the regulations agreed upon will be carried into effect with moderation and a never-failing regard to the maintenance of our present most friendly relations with the Sultan and his Empire. Your Excellency will, I am confident, entertain the same impression as myself upon this important point." Note: I have failed to get information about this Pasha, and the negotiations. The mention of Sir Edward Owen, appointed Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Fleet on HMS Queen in 1841 suggests something to do with the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean.
