Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Strictures on the Modern System of Female Education. With a View of the Principles and Conduct Prevalent Among Women of Rank and Fortune. By Hannah More and printed in Hartford, Connecticut by John Babcock. 1801, 288 pp, 6.5 x 4.25, 18mo, full leather. In fair condition, with rubbing to boards and bumping of corners. Chipping of leather on spine and loss of title label. Hinges remain in good condition and text block is tightly bound. Numerous old hand inscriptions at the front of the book. General age-related toning to pages, as well as infrequent foxing. Rip to corner of last flyleaf page. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce work by Hannah More (1745-1833), with two volumes bound into one. More was a British social reformer and opponent of the slave trade who worked to, among other things, increase literacy among the poor.
