Separate published offprint of Vol CCIX of the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Size 11.7 x 9 inches, pp. 105 ( numbered 74 - 179) + 8 full page plates, hardback binding. Book condition - Very Good ; contents clean, no inscriptions, small Withdrawn library plate, of University Library, Birmingham, inside the front board, no other library marks internally or externally, no foxing, inner hinges intact and binding firm ; dark red dimpled cloth with blind lines ruled around the board edges and dark red plain cloth (replacement ? ) on the spine with author's name in gilt ; corners rubbed and a bit bent, board edges good, back clean, spine complete with ends a little rubbed and creased but not split, front clean. After education and early employment at the University of Birmingham, from 1911 Imms worked for six years as Forest Entomologist at Dehra Dun (Garwal Region), India. It was during this period that he encountered Archotermopsis in the lower Himalayas, and from which this paper was written. On return from India, he went on to be appointed the first Chief Entomologist at Rothamsted.in 1918. Seven years later he published "A General Textbook of Entomology " which went on to become the premier entomological textbook for many years. (Biographical information from Wikipedia ).
