Part 1 (of 3). Dark bottle green cloth boards which are both faded and scuffed in places. Similar scuffing at the head and tail of the spine; which also has a title label largely eroded. Uncut edges. Internally, the pages are mild to moderately tanned throughout with occasional foxing; both phenomena more evident on the preliminary and final pages. Front endpapers feature pencil and ink signatures of a previous owner, dated 1855. The main condition-related issue is the separation of the front pastedown and spine from the book block. The latter is not completely separated as the lower board is still attached to it (see image).
