In the publisher's original cloth binding.This edition is undated, dated using the copies at the British library listed on LibraryHub.Loosely inserted is a piece of paper containing a wax seal with a horse forcene, and a quill at the top.Comprising two volumes in one with plates. Illustrated, with a frontispiece and twenty-three plates total. Collated, appears to be without three plate 'the baron and the coach-horse', 'the seaman and sea-gull' and 'the baron and whale' according to the list of plates. There is no evidence of the plates being removed, so this copy may have been issued without the plates as the work is in the original binding.The tales of Baron Munchausen is a fictional work following a character loosely based on a real baronm Hieronymus Karl Friedrich, Freiherr von Munchhausen.
