"First cheap edition" printed on front flap of dust-jacket. Printed pages are the same as for the first edition, but this edition has slightly thinner boards, c. 1.7mm in width compared with c. 2.5mm in width for the first edition). The cloth is also different. Dust-jacket front flap has a printed price of "3s 6d net" with a red "7/6" sticker overlaid. Price clipped from lower corner of front flap of dust-jacket. Rear panel of dust-jacket has extracts from five reviews of this title (the rear panel of the first edition dust-jacket is blank). 253, [3 (blank)] pages. Maps on endpapers. Tan cloth boards with black lettering on spine and front board. Page dimensions: 199 x 133mm. A collection made by Cowan of true accounts of nautical adventures and episodes in the Pacific.
