Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Although this work was published anonymously, Hinckley is listed as the illustrator. Whether or not he also wrote the text is debatable. "The publisher of this little volume was a bookseller and an importer, dealing in plain and fancy stationery painter's supplies, maps, novels and religious and scientific works. Among the publications advertised in this volume are a child's drawing book of objects and Smith's juvenile drawing book, a small 4°, offered at 88 cents, containing 24 plates of subjects, easily copied; also Coe's drawing book of American scenery, with 34 viewsfrom nature, 4°, $1.50" - Drepperd. A particularly nice copy, in original publisher's binding, of this early American drawing book, treating the contrast of light and shade as well as color. SCHIMMELMAN, AMERICAN IMPRINTS ON ART 259. DREPPERD, AMERICAN DRAWING BOOKS, p.17. Original publisher's green cloth, stamped in blind, spine gilt. Binding lightly rubbed, stained, and soiled. Internally clean and bright. Contemporary bookplate of Benjamin H. Lane to front pastedown. Very good.…
