In the RARE original dust jacket, in Mylar protector, with a small part missint on upper spine right corer & lower spine a larger part missing. Better than the average example. . Copy two is in the seldom found & RARE original dustjacket. There are the usual small parts missing from the spine head, lower edges and corner rubbing, with a touch of damp stain red transfer to the lower spine, Better than the average example. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . *** HALLETT EDWARD ABEND: [1884-1955]: He was a journalist, going to China in in 1926, as chief correspondant for the New York Times in Peking. .On August 22, 1937, he was among those wounded when a heavy artillery shell exploded in the heart of the international quarter. He was beaten by Japanese military police. His reporting of the "Rape of Nanking" in 1937 exposed the extent of Japanese atrocities in the city.
