Black cloth. Turquoise design on front cover, spine turquoise and black. Front hinge repaired but still showing a little gauze. Top edge darkened. Slight separation between two of the gathers but pages clean and tight. Covers are moderately smudged, moderately worn, with a bit of loss at corners and spine ends, and scuffed. Corners slightly bumped. Not a handsome copy, but on the front free endpaper in ink: "For John D. Stern / -for cocktails in buckets / and women in bed / from / Thorne Smith / San Francisco May 17 1933." Another added attraction, a beautiful custom-made clamshell box, covered in dark blue cloth with a black leather "spine" with five raised bands, four small bright gilt decorations, and the title and author in gilt, as well as, at the lower end, also in gilt, "First Edition / Inscribed / 1931." Inside the box is printed "Heritage Bindery." The box is very nearly fine. Buchnummer des Verkäufers 008585
