Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Alan Harris is a practicing veterinarian near Columbia, South Carolina, where he and Valerie, his wife for over forty years make their home. They have six children whom they have homeschooled for over 25 years, a host of beautiful grandchildren whom they adore…and a pug. The idea for the Tales of Larkin books came to Alan the summer before his junior year of veterinary medical school. He was hiking through the woods when he found a creek with a small three-step waterfall. A tiny opening in the rock near this spot got him thinking what it would be like to be one inch tall and try to survive in the woods. As he imagined himself to be a tiny hunter confronting lizards, spiders and snakes a story began to come together. Years later when he read part of the story to his children their excitement and enthusiastic question, “What happens next, Dad?” motivated Alan to continue writing. When Alan discovered his children’s eagerness to hear more of the story, he saw it as an opportunity to use the story to teach them some important lessons about God, the Lord Jesus, and godly character by weaving these lessons subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, into the story. Now that some of Alan and Valerie’s children are grown, the Tales of Larkin are being used to teach these lessons to their grandchildren. It is Alan’s hope that his stories will not only be exciting adventures that delight the readers, but that they will also draw those who read or listen to the tales closer to God and His Son King Jesus, inspire them to pray bold prayers, and, in faith, to do great exploits for God.
