This is an exceptionally well-preserved theatre program from the 1925 - 1926 season of the famous Théâtre National de ' Opéra - Comique in Paris. The program has a front cover illustration by famous French artist / illustrator Pierre Brissaud. This design was used for many of the Theatre's programs. Being performed were Giacomo Puccini's "La Tosca" and Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" . this copy of the program was issued July 3, 1926. In it are numerous photographic portraits of the performers (and one of Puccini), as well as a generous assortment of contemporary ads for various businesses in and around Paris. The book ends with a brief biographical sketch of famed 19th century opera diva, Galli - Marie. The inside of the rear cover has a handsome drawing of the interior of the theatre, identifying the various seating sections. It's a wonderful relic from inter-war Paris. The caption reads, "Un air Embaumé" ("a Balmy Fragrance"). The ad has a very Art Nouveau feel. CONDITION - VERY GOOD - This is a previously owned book which is exceptionally well-preserved, with but a few small imperfections, the following particulars noted: EXTERIOR - A touch of weathering along the spine, else bright, clean and attractive. Exceptional! Rear cover has modest weathering about edges - not egregious and of but small effect. / BINDING - The single staple is firmly attached and no leaves are detached or loose. / INTERIOR - On the center spread , of which the recto side has the program details, there are five small check marks in green ink (presumed by me to have been put there by someone who had attended the performance.)
