Undated - Copac gives the date of publication as 1882 and page pagination as [4], vi,126,[2],10,[6]p this copy however has a publishers catalog at rear, No. 3 1885 , comprising not the 6 pages of the original but 32 pages, with many line illustrations (SEE SCAN)taken from the works advertised. This was a common practice, the publisher binding and selling copies as required, taking the opportunity to bind in the latest catalogue. The book itself is described as Theatricals and Tableaux Vivants For Amateurs Giving Full Direction as to Stage Arrangements, Making Up , Costumes and Acting, with 92 illustrations (SEE SCANS). Contents : Stage Arrangements; Making-Up; Stage Costumes; Historical Designs; Fancy Designs: Tableaux Vivants. Book This is a lovely example, beautifully restored. Text block re-stitched and rebound in original, blind patterned and gilt illustrated maroon cloth covered boards, spine internally strengthened in matching cloth only apparent at spine end (SEE SCAN) The front, yellow advertising pastedown has been reproduced in facsimile on period paper providing a near seamless match, just apparent at the hinge (SEE SCAN), as is the replaced blank yellow rear pastedown similarly replaced with contemporary paper. With clean, bright and now tightly bound text-block, in original boards just light bumping and rubbing to corners and ends of spine, this is a lovely example of an interesting and uncommon work.
