ALS written to Rev. Thomas S. Hinde of Urbana, Ohio from Thomas Scott of Chillicothe, Ohio dated to April 13th, 1833. Signed by Thomas Scott. Address reads: "Thomas Hinde, Esquire, Urbana, Champaign County, Ohio." Stampless letter; April 14 in manuscript and faded hand-cancelled oval reading Chillicothe, Ohio. When unfolded sheet measures 12" x 7 ½". Good with 1" piece missing along right edge where wax seal was affixed, some of loss of content; light toning overall. Chillicothe, Ohio was the first capital of the Northwest Territory (1800-03) , and Ohio's first state capital (1803-1810, 1812-1816). Thomas Scott (1772-1856) was the secretary for the State Constitutional Convention of 1802, and was an Ohio Supreme Court Judge from 1809-1816. He writes to Thomas Spottswood Hinde about appearing as a witness at the Common Pleas Court. Hinde was an American newspaper editor, opponent of slavery, real estate investor, and Methodist minister.
