to Peter Winckworth (Master of the Mercers for 1961/2). First letter dated April 1954 two full sides congratulating his correspondent on two pamphlets received and speaking of approaching The Spectator and Time & Tide on his behalf. Reference also made to Honor Tracy in the last lines of this letter. (circa 177 words). Second letter dated October, 1957 thanking Winckworth for 'a thoroughly enjoyable evening - good food, good company @ good wine.The idea of a little champagne at the beginning was cunning & good. That fruity sherry that followed was a delicious contrast.What is the result of it all? I FEEL VERY WELL THIS MORNING as one always does after first class food & drink.Again, thank you, dear Peter, for a wonderful evening.' (circa 117 words). Third letter is dated 14.3.[19]62. 'My dear Peter I wanted to write and thank you in your --- capacity as an old friend & as Master of the Mercers, for your great kindness & generosity in letting us have the hall for that Hawksmoor meeting. I am sorry Iain Nairn was so embarrassingly emotional in his speech about Hawksmoor. Not the right kind of thing, I felt, for the City. .'(circa 80 words).
