Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Loren Schechter is a retired psychiatrist who loves to write fiction. His first novel, "Murder in Millbrook," is a humorous mystery about a 70 year-old woman who gets into trouble by trying to solve the murder of a neighbor. Dr. Schechter's next two novels, "Ethics of the Undead" and it's sequel, "The Cure," were spoofs of the vampire genre, satirizing American institutions and foibles. A Kirkus reviewer wrote that they were "beautifully refined, intelligent and profound." A Blue Ink review stated "Author Loren Schechter writes with snap and intelligence." Dr. Schechter was born in New York City. He received a B.A. degree from New York University and an M.D. from the University of Louisville. He trained in psychiatry at the University of Michigan's Neuropsychiatric Institute, doing a fourth year fellowship in Adolescent Psychiatry. He was Board certified in both General and Adolescent Psychiatry. After serving as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Dr. Schechter moved to Massachusetts, where he became the Director of a newly-formed community mental health clinic in the Metro-West area. After six years, he moved on to found People Care, Inc., a private, state-licensed clinic in Natick, MA. He consulted to public and private schools, a state hospital, a state prison, residential programs for troubled teens, and group homes for the mentally ill and disadvantaged. For ten years, he was the Chief of the Behavioral Health department of Harvard Vanguard's medical center in Peabody, MA. He now lives in Peabody with his wife Susan and their dog Amigo.
