This volume also contains seventy-one blank yellows leaves bound in throughout the text.Volume II illustrated with eight plates, and ten illustrations additionally bound in on yellow leaves. The text of Volume II ends on page 1114, whereas Brayley's original Volume VIII on Kent ended on page 1366.Brayley's 'The Beauties of England and Wales' was originally published between 1801-15, and covered a total of eighteen volumes which explores each county of England and Wales in great detail. This was a popular topographical work when published, its readers including Charles Dickens. Rebound in a cloth binding. Externally, worn, the rear board of Volume II has almost detached from the backstrip. Light rubbing and some minor marks to the boards and spines. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Small tear to the tail of the spine of Volume II. Hinge of Volume I have failed. Hinges of Volume II have failed, the textblock is detached from the binding. Internally, binding is strained in places in Volume II, binding has failed in Volume I between pages 544 and 545, 582 and 583, and 594 and 595.
