Covers rubbed, corners bumped and worn, wear along outer hinges, some shelfwear, corners bumped and worn, ink name on front pastedown, inner front hinge cracked, rear inner hinge starting, bookmark has light fraying, light soiling to endpapers, scattered foxing else very good. Ink name on pastedown "Edward Balston Eton 1844". Edward Balston, 1817-1891, attended Eton, in 1840 became an assistant master and its headmaster in 1862. Two very SCARCE titles in a gorgeous binding with a great provenance from an educator who loved the classics so much that he proposed that Eton only teach Latin and Greek.
