While he is best remembered for his book Devout Life , he also wrote an important mystical treatise entitled The Love of God . This book, like Devout Life , was written for the laity rather than the clergy of the Catholic Church. It was written to offer a model of God s love during a time when little love was being shown throughout Europe. This 1697 edition is quite rare and features the Latin translation by Heinrich Lamormain, who translated it out of the original French.
