Tears along border between spine and front board, along with fading and loss of binding to head of spine. Wear to hinges, primarily at front of book. Foldout frontispiece in good condition. Text block remains bound well. Periodic black-and-white illustrations throughout. Some tears to rear end pages, along with 2 being glued together. A scarce piece by American archeologist William Pidgeon (c. 1800 - c. 1880), who claimed to have discovered an elaborate lost Native American mound civilization across the Midwest, along with interviewing the De-Coo-Dah, who was supposedly the last influential figure of the civilization left.
