Three volumes of a four-volume annotated edition of Euripides' tragedies; edited and translated by Pierre Prévost (1751-1839), a Swiss philosopher and physicist from Geneva. The first volume contains a long biography of Euripides (with a fold-out chronological table), "Hécube" and "Oreste"; the second volume contains "Les Phéniciennes," "Médée" and "Andromaque"; the third volume contains "Les Suppliantes," "Rhésus" and "Hélène." The 4th volume was published by a different publisher in 1797. Antiqua typeface; title pages contain a vignette/cut; other pages are decorated with headpieces and tailpieces.
