Édition originale. Bien que consacré aux cinq sens, l'ouvrage du célèbre chirurgien de Rouen traite plus particulièrement de la vue. Il est illustré de 12 planches et de charmantes vignettes gravées. Dans son avertissement, l'éditeur précise que ce volume fait partie d'un ouvrage de Physiologie "que je fais actuellement imprimer. qui ne paraîtra pas encore ci-tôt", et qu'il n'a jamais publié. In-12, [16]-328 pp. 16 pl., veau marbré havane, dos à nerfs orné de caissons et fleurons dorés, pièce de titre rouge, tranches rouges (épidermures, coiffe supérieure arasée, mors fendus, petit manque au titre, rousseurs, minuscules déchirures marginales du papier). Troisième édition de cet ouvrage, dont l'originale a paru en 1740 à Rouen mais qui était très fautive. Dans sa préface, l'éditeur explique, qu'outre la correction des fautes : "On a fait le choix, pour l'impression, d'un caractère plus gros & plus beau; &, quant aux planches, elles sont beaucoup mieux gravées, & sur du meilleur papier [.]". Ce traité est l'oeuvre principale de Le Cat, un chirurgien-médecin rouennais. Il est divisé en cinq parties correspondant aux cinq sens et il est illustré de 16 belles planches gravées.
