Hardback: full page colour and b/w margin illustrations by the author, no dj, book is bound in cloth with gilt vignette on the front (which is a bit tarnished), a few marks and some light rubbing, spine tips and corners are slightly bumped, some internal foxing and a few other marks, else vg. 4to. In 1610 a cottonwood tree began to grow on the Great Plains and saw many things during its lifetime - until old age finally conquered it in 1834.
