Wilson, a Scottish radical and would-be revolutionary, led a march on Glasgow after being fed information by British government spies who claimed that England was in the midst of an insurrection and that the French were assisting the rebels. This was not the case, and upon his return Wilson was arrested and executed in August of 1820. Mackenzie was a journalist who wrote about the British infiltration of radical networks.
