VERY RARE gilded & embossed hardcover book of sheet music for Voice & Pianoforte. "Trial by Jury -&- H.M.S. Pinafore". By W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. This book is undated, but believed to be published circa 1880-1900 by Chappell & Co. 4to, 28 cm x 21 cm x 1.6 cm, Blue textured cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering on spine, All edge dyed mottled red, sorry no dust-jacket. 158 pages. Weight: 618 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, there is a split in between last end paper & pastedown from tail up. First Synopsis page has a small tear & creasing on top edge. Spine is discoloured but clean & sturdy, bumped & scuffed either end, gilt quite bright, binding tight! Cover is slightly marked & discoloured in places, edge wear. Corners are slightly bumped & frayed, boards exposed on one of them. Pastedowns, end papers & title page of 'H.M.S. Pinafore' slightly marked. Some pages (very few) have faint crease down middle and/or corner folds/creases.Title page of 'H.M.S. Pinafore' has 2 folds & Arthur Sullivan 'signature' ink stamp. Light age tanning & rare foxing throughout, more pronounced on end papers/pastedowns. EXTREMELY RARE SHEET MUSIC, BEAUTIFUL INSIDE!!!
