Two mid nineteenth century advertisements for the Glasgow based 'Fancy Emporioum' S. Woolfield. Described as a 'Fancy Emporium' and 'importer of all the various manufactures of France, Germany, Austria &c', S. Woolfield of Glasgow was a prominent shop in the city, founded by Samuel Woolfield.Woolfield manufactured writing desks, chests, slope desks, dressing cases and imported fancy foreign goods. They were also jewellers, and sold 'Scotch presents in clan tartan wood work'.These two advertisements bill the shop as 'important to tourists and strangers in Glasgow'.The first advertisement is a small folded card providing a map to the shop, and a description of items available to purchase.The second advertisement remarks on a change of address, from 61 Buchanan Street to 143 Buchanan Street, and features a large map to the reverse.Undated; dated circa 1850 via address.Charmingly illustrated advertisements for a popular Victorian era Glasgow business. Two unbound leaf. One a folded card, lightly age toned to perimeters, with a touch of discolouration to fold. Larger advertisement lightly age toned to perimeters, with small hole to head, likely marking where the advertisement was affixed to a wall for display purposes. Very Good Indeed.
