Beschreibung
A brief letter from the ancient logical positivist, philanderer and Spurs fan - written in the month before his demise - apparently offering an [unused] contribution for inclusion in James L. Harmon's "Take My Advice: Letters to the Next Generation from People Who Know a Thing or Two" (eventually published by Simon & Schuster in 2002): "I can think of nothing better than to recommend the doctrine adopted by Bernard [sic] Russell in his Introduction to his "Sceptical Essays": `That it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it true.' I endorse his opinion `That this would tend to diminish the incomes of clairvoyants, bookmakers, bishops and others' who live on irrational hopes." Folded for mailing and in excellent condition.
