A small educational encyclopaedia, first published in 1811, which appeared in numerous editions, including US, until about 1860. The sections include agriculture, trade and commerce, clothing, navigation, geography, religion and morals, astronomy, mathematics, chemistry, physics and natural history. Among the illustrations are a weaver's loom and spinning machine, a' loco motive steam engine', a steam printing press, a balloon and charming depictions of birds and animals. Written under the pseudonym, David Blair, this is one of the numerous works of radical publisher and vegetarian activist, Sir Richard Phillips (1767-1840).
