Beschreibung
Sachar Foundation. Plainfield, New Jersey. 1974 (1975). 201 pages. First edition, first printing. Scotch Plains native Marion Nicholl Rawson (b. 1878) shares an intimate history of her hometown from Colonial and Revolutionary days, including the nearby Battle of Short Hills, to the Victorian era of the author's childhood. Rawson began her project in 1943, and completing it in 1956. Nearly 20 years later, Rawson's text and drawings were published with a new 4 page addendum noting a new cross-reference for addresses/streets that changed since her project was complete. Also added is a new detailed index. This book was published in a limited 300 copy print run; this being copy number 196 of 300 copies. Published for the Historical Society of Scotch Plains and Fanwood in cooperation with the Scotch Plains American Revolution Bicentennial Committee. Book is about fine. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Some topical (seemingly cleanable) white scuffs to navy cloth on rear panel; otherwise fine. An intimate portrait of Scotch Plains and Fanwood, New Jersey up through 1956 (with a 1975 Addendum & Index). Near fine with noted scuff on rear panel. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 002661
