The Malawi Social Action Fund (MASAF) introduced Community Driven Development (CDD) approaches in the implementation of community development projects in urban areas in Malawi in 2003. This was an effort aimed at alleviating urban poverty by allowing communities to demand development and participate in the project cycle.
