Titel: VIOLIN-MAKING, AS IT WAS AND IS
Verlag: Ward, Lock & Co., London
Zustand des Schutzumschlags: No Jacket
No date. Presumably second edition, as the preface is to the second edition. The preface is dated 1885. Hardcover in brick cloth decorated in black and gilt. 352 pages including appendices, plus index. Heavily illustrated with drawings. Should be six plates but two of them (IV and V) are not present. The frontispiece is a photographic portrait of the author. Rear hinge is cracked. Some separation between some gathers. Pages are clean and tight. Laid in, more or less in pieces since they are folded and torn at most of the folds, with bits cut out, are two large drawings of the f holes and other parts of violins by various famous makers. Condition of these is too poor to make this much of a "addition" to the book - just interesting. Covers are edgeworn, front cover has a bend near the top corner, general over-all light soil.
