Venture capital fuels innovation and is particularly vital in a rapidly changing world.
Switzerland has long been a center for the world’s financial developments and is at the
forefront of venture capitalism. But what’s the secret of Swiss success and how is that
reflected – or not – in the world’s other leading business regions? This compelling new
book assembles an enviable who’s who of the venture capital scene to examine what
attracts investors and partners to the Swiss region from all corners of the world – and
how the latest innovations are playing out on a global scale.

Each chapter of this groundbreaking anthology takes its inspiration from the evolution
of startups, interpreting venture capital across a number of key fundraising themes,
from the contributions of so-called business angels to equity investments from banks.
The book is arranged across the life cycle of a fund, with the main focus on sourcing,
investing, managing portfolio companies and exit. It integrates perspectives from
key players in the global industry, across all stages of the process, and many types of
venture capital firms. The aim is to provide the one and only comprehensive book on
the venture capital industry – offering an invaluable glimpse into the lessons everyone
can derive from the innovations of the Swiss approach and how they have been successfully
applied internationally.

Venture capital doesn’t get the coverage it should given its global importance for innovation
and this vital collection provides not only a deep dive into what characterizes
a thriving venture capital scene, but provides exclusive insights into and case studies
of the Swiss role model that others can learn from.
