Beautifully illustrated antique copy of "THE VICAR OF WAKEFIELD" by Oliver Goldsmith. 1889; John C. Nimmo; London. This edition features 114 illustrations in color by V.A. Poirson and gilt page edges on all sides. With a "Prefatory Memoir" of Goldsmith by George Saintsbury. Condition: There is some light soiling/staining to the covers and spine; the gilt lettering on the spine has partially faded. Sharp corners. Tight binding with no loose pages. The inside of the book is in great condition - clean pages with no notable issues found. Bright gilt page edges on all sides. Overall the book is in Very Good condition. The green boards are battered, worn, scuffed and marked all about. They are steady. Within, the contents are gently aged. The opp.-title page has a previous owner signature (Emily Moorshead 1876). The rear board and end paper are stained by damp. Otherwise, the contents are tanned, foxed, earnestly produced, clear, assured, capable.
