A Victorian Rowing Photograph Album

This is an all original photograph album measuring 6 x 5 inches, and containing 52 original prints in B & W & sepia tone. 28 of these are Rowing Events (team competitions). The rest are various personalities and sporting events. The majority are dated 1896, with a few 1895 & 1896. The original prints measure 4 x 3 inches and are most likely printed from 108 roll film negatives. The majority of images have handwritten notes annotations about the event or rowing sculls competitions. We reproduce here five sample images. Image 1 reads "Cheltenham vs St Pauls" (top left) and is dated "Summer 1896" (top right). A most interesting sporting record. More information on request with pleasure. The album is signed "S. C. Talbot" and appears linked to Christowe House, Cheltenham College. So, the author possibly an Old Boy of that College? There are two particularly interesting images. Image 3: House Trophies & Cups.
