Seguún Palau, Aunque el traductor aparezca Juan Castro de Salinas, realmente fue Francisco de Enzinas. Exceptuando la portada, el colofón y el prologo añadido por Arnoldo Biremang, los ejemplares impresos en Colonia son idénticos a los impresos en Strasburgo en 1551. Indudablemente hay una sola edición, la de Strasburgo, y comprada después por Arnoldo Biremang, librero de Amberes, que para venderla como nueva, mudó la portada y la última hoja, añadiendo el prólogo, y temeroso de los inconvenientes que podría ocasionar el nombre del protestante Francisco de Enzias, adoptó el seudónimo de Juan Castro de Salinas. Para alterar el colofón, tuvo que reimprimir el folio 67 de la segunda foliatura, que a primera vista se distingue de los demás por la desigualdad del papel y de los caracteres Encuadernación en plena piel de época en buen estado general con algunas imperfecciones. Formato folio. 2 h. 320 + 71 folios. Portada con antiguas anotaciones. Escudo del editor. Un folio con subrayados antiguos. Ejemplar con algunas leves marcas de agua. Unknown and unique state of the posthumous issue of Encinas' translation of a selection from Plutarch's parallel Lives. Francis of Enzinas (Burgos, 1518? Strasbourg, 1552), was a notable Protestant humanist, known primarily for his Spanish version of the New Testament (1543). El Burgal had conceived an ambitious project, the Officina Hispanica, which would be responsible for disseminating in Romance language both Greco-Latin works and biblical texts. To this end he worked with the leading Central European printers and booksellers. Thus, during his stay as Professor of Greek at Cambridge (1548-1549), he contacted Arnold Birkmann, who showed keen interest in the dissemination of the Spanish book in Europe in the face of its growing demand. In 1550-1552, the last years of his life, Enzinas settled with his family in Strabus.
