Book 2 of The COnVENt Series

Grief is a ghost. Magic is a curse. And some secrets are buried alive.

Camille returns to New Orleans under the guise of Sister Catherine, seeking refuge within the walls of the Ursuline convent under Spanish rule. But the city offers no sanctuary. Fires rage across the city, unrest simmers in the streets, and she is tested by war in the Battle of New Orleans. Yet the most dangerous threat lurks within the convent itself.

To protect the girls entrusted to her care, Camille must embrace the divine providence she once feared and journey to Haiti, where ancient practices and sacred protections promise power—but demand conviction. Even newfound power cannot shield those she loves.

As the truth of Peri’s past begins to surface—entwined with the legends of Marie Laveau and Jean Lafitte—the veil over New Orleans’ history lifts. What emerges is not the story history tells, but the one it tried to bury—where Jean Lafitte’s charm masks cruelty, and Marie Laveau’s shadow hides sanctity. Peri hunts evil. She delivers justice where the law refuses to tread. And she demands payment in blood.

Meanwhile, the power rising within Mac isn’t just an awakening. It is a stepping into herself and a remembering of the soul’s true calling—her VOCATION. Mac must embrace her shadows—both gift and curse. Healing comes only when comfort is abandoned, and nothing worth reclaiming comes without consequence.

In a city built on ghosts and shadowed by its own sins, healing is never gentle. It is forged in fire, carved from silence, and sometimes written in blood.

Not all healing is light and love. Some healing comes from death and darkness.
