Inhaltsangabe: Where are the WMD? It doesn t take a team of international inspectors to find the truth. Three nuns performed this service for free.
WMD, Nukes & Nuns contrasts the actions of three Dominican nuns (now convicts) who non-violently "discovered" war-crime WMD in the heartland of America while Bush was preparing to wage war in Iraq on the pretext of similar war-crime items over there.

Even as America sent its military forces into Iraq on the grounds that Saddam might have had Weapons of Mass Destruction, three nuns set out to open America s eyes to the WMDs we cherish here at home.

Armed with nothing but a rosary, a call for moral courage, and a pair of fence-cutting pliers, three nuns spilled their own blood from baby bottles on the concrete dome of a missile silo in the midst of the sagebrush prairie. The stage was set for this peaceful protest by a sequence of events rooted in diplomatic and economic machinations going back to 1991 and before.

No sign of WMD was found in Iraq, though no stone was left unturned and no office left unburned. Here in the US, three nuns were sent to jail for undermining national security. Apparently, no one appreciates an unexpected wake-up call. Three nuns went to jail - and the whole world went to hell in a handbasket.

This book is about the injustice of the US federal courts which sent the nuns to jail for virtuous conduct, and the public that preferred not to hear about it. It s about political immorality and the meaning of justice in a nation where it seems to be illegal to carry out non-violent protests against mass killing. The book also reveals the corporate sources of the weapons of mass destruction (WMD) that were delivered to Saddam Hussein in the 1980s and raises troubling questions about responsibility.

Perhaps those who tire of a war without end may be curious enough to ask questions, such as:

- Who really owned WMDs at that time?

- Who was a threat to America s security?

- Who unilaterally voided nuclear treaties?

- Who put the US on a first-strike pre-emptive war footing?

- Who lied?

- Who profited from a war designed around the body-bags of 2,000+ American lives?

- Who once set up Saddam Hussein as a CIA asset to wage war against Iran and then double-crossed him?

Über den Autor: A former Catholic seminarian and a journalist with the Rocky Mountain News, William Strabala traces some of the reasons for the Bush-led wars against Iraq and points to the financial interests that make such adventures appealing, even when they risk igniting World War III.

His last book, Prophets Without Honor: A Requiem for Moral Patriotism (Algora 2002), co-authored by Michael Palecek, relates the stories of a dozen priests who went to jail for anti-war protests and for highlighting the lurid connections between big business, international politics, personal avarice and amorality that have enabled the US to exploit and oppress Third World populations.
A Colorado-based peace activist, Strabala is still "MAD" as hell about "Mutually Assured Destruction."
