"A Walk to Horace's Farm" is an evocative exploration of the intersection between classical literature and the physical landscape of Italy. Written by the distinguished scholar E.K. Rand, this work serves as both a scholarly tribute and a personal travelogue, guiding the reader on a pilgrimage to the site of the Sabine farm once owned by the Roman lyric poet Horace.

Through a blend of literary analysis and descriptive prose, Rand brings the world of Augustan Rome to life, examining how the topography of the Licenza Valley influenced Horace's poetry. The narrative captures the timeless beauty of the Italian countryside while offering insightful commentary on the Odes and Satires. Rand's expertise as a Latinist ensures a deep appreciation for the historical context, yet his accessible style makes the journey engaging for any lover of the classics. "A Walk to Horace's Farm" remains a vital text for those seeking to understand the pastoral inspirations of one of Rome's greatest literary figures and the enduring allure of the classical past.
