Black morocco with gilt decorated borders to both boards and gilt title and decorated compartments to spine. An attractive binding. James Montgomery (1771-1854), born at Irvine in Ayrshire was a poet, hymnwriter and editor primarily associated with humanitarian causes such as the campaigns to abolish slavery and to end the exploitation of child chimney sweeps.
