Page fore-edges yellowed. Internally, a few small discolouration spots close to hinge; a map showing where the 'wanderers' travelled -possibly the front panel of dust jacket - is adhered to front paste-down. The author's address is added in pencil on the rear free endpaper ("Mrs. Henry Cust / 17 Hyde Park Gate / London SW17"). The subjects were the author's mother (Victoria) and grandmother (Lady Emmeline). Young Victoria published selected recollections in A Young Traveller's Journal of a Tour in North and South America during the year 1850 (London: T. Bosworth, 1852), which is now rare.
