Appears to be the first edition containing all four parts. In a beautiful decorative floral cloth binding, with the title gilt stamped to front board. H & S colophon to front board. Mary Martha Sherwood was a prolific and influential children's writer of 19th Century Britain. She composed over 400 books, tracts, magazine articles and chapbooks. In a full cloth, blind stamped binding with gilt stamping to front board. Externally, very smart with minor shelfwear to extremities and to the gilt detailing to front board. Gift inscription to recto of front endpaper, To Florence Gertrude Taylor From her Affectionate Dada & Mama for her eighth birthday February 12th. Internally, firmly bound.
