Beschreibung
325pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Publisher's red cloth. Bit of bumping to bottom fore-edge corners; some toning to pages, as per usual; previous owner's discreet signature at head of front free endpaper; several pages have flattened corners. Overall, an excellent copy. Scarce in this condition. In the illustrated dust jacket, with minor rubbing to edges, and a short clean tear to the top edge of the rear panel, along with several other short edge tears. These tears have been backed with 4 pieces of short tape. This jacket actually presents quite well. Hard to find this classic example of horror literature in such nice condition. Samuel Guy Endore (1900-1970), aka Harry Relis, was an American novelist and screenwriter. During his career he produced a wide variety of novels, screenplays, and pamphlets both published and unpublished. This novel, his best known novel, has become a cult favorite of fans of horror. "The Werewolf of Paris" occupies a significant position in werewolf literature, in much the same way that "Dracula" does in vampire literature [Fantastic Fiction]. Endore forged his way in Hollywood's supernatural genre with "Mark of the Vampire" and "The Curse of the Werewolf," based on this novel, and produced by Hammer Film Productions. The latter film is significant due to the fact that it was the first werewolf film to be shot in color and the only werewolf film made by Hammer Horror. The Werewolf of Paris is listed in Stephen Jones & Kim Newman's "Horror: 100 Best Books.". Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 61172
