Inhaltsangabe:

Gray and Drew (information science emeritus and education, respectively, Claremont Graduate U.) examine issues about which most new faculty members are blissfully ignorant, including the real number of papers you need to publish to get tenure (n+2), words you need to spell and use correctly to get any respect, the reasons why you should never (never, never, never) become a department chair, and the mysterious and phenomenal death rate of students' aunts and grandmothers around final exam time. Along with their humor they pack in sound advice on evaluating salary offers, getting work published, dealing with students and their addictions (and your own), surviving service on academic and administrative committees, getting close to nirvana (a full professorship in a research university), and getting over yourself once you get there.
