A novel of deception in which the disciples who thought that Christ had risen from the dead, were victims of a well-meaning deception by Joseph of Arimathea that there had been no Resurrection. The body had merely been secretly transferred from one tomb to another. "The entire Christian world had been the victim of this hoax.It is, by any standards, a tour de force of extraordinary vivacity and skill.
