FIRST EDITION, a couple of faint spots to margins of prelims, receding into text and recurrent at rear, pp. 348, [2, ads], crown 8vo, original light green cloth, backstrip lettered in gilt and slightly nicked at head, darkened to backstrip and borders with a couple of faint spots to cloth, top edge green, the others slightly toned and spotted, free endpapers with faint partial browning, Ralph Keene dustjacket, a little browned overall, particularly to the backstrip panel, chipped and nicked, good. A scarce work, the author's fourth book - two of his earlier novels had been published by Faber. After attending Rugby School, the author went up to University College, Oxford; he served in the Great War and was mentioned in despatches. The present work tackles 'the problems of the modern inheritance' from a female point of view, presenting through three generations 'the woman of to-day, the woman of to-morrow, and the woman of yesterday'. It is recommended by the publisher as 'a book every woman should read'. Ralph Keene executed a handful of dustjacket-designs for Faber and other publishers in the latter half of the 1920s; his work is distinctive and uniformly excellent.…

Our premises are in the main Blackwell's bookstore, one of the largest and best known in the world, housing over 200,000 new book titles, covering every subject, disclipline and interest, as well as a large secondhand books department. The bookstore is in the centre of the city, opposite the Bodleian Library, Sheldonian Theatre, and many of the colleges and other university buildings, with on-street parking close by.
