Bound in publisher's dark green cloth, gilt lettering and ornamentation to both spine and front board, the latter a stylized image of the "Cap of Wapasha" or Sugarloaf bluff in the city of Winona. Plain white endpapers. [1-3], 4-694, [695-6] blank. Frontispiece plus additional four sheets unpaginated images; maps. General index; index to maps/illus; table of contents. Condition notes: a good-plus to very good copy of an uncommon early history of Winona, owned by prominent Minneapolis attorney E.C. Gale. Moderate wear/rubbing to boards, with several small worn patches to tail edge and corners. Spine ends rolled, corners bumped. Binding weakening at both hinges, with fabric showing to front. Pages markedly tanned and somewhat brittle, with several scattered closed tears. Ownership inscriptions to ffep. An uncommon early history of Winona County, Minnesota, from the library of E.C. Gale (1862-1943), Minneapolis lawyer, philanthropist, and one-time head of the Minnesota Historical Society, whose signature is found on the ffep. We personally inspect every book we offer.
