31x16 cm. A group of 9 lists of locations of telephones in Winsted, Connecticut in 1894-5. The lists are all dated, with six being titled Temporary List. The lists are connected at the top with an adhesive. They are arranged by date of revision, with the top list being January 24, 1895 and the earliest, at the bottom, dated February 28, 1894. The top sheet is lacking its bottom segment with listings for Norfolk. Other sheets are complete. There are no phone numbers listed on any sheets, as there were apparently few enough telephones in these towns that operators would make connections without the convenience of numbers. This group demonstrates the rapid expansion of telephone installation in two small Connecticut towns in 1894, with almost monthly updates needed to keep up with the growing list of commercial, industrial and residential customers.
