Brand New, Unread Copy in Perfect Condition. A+ Customer Service! Summary: Wish You Were Here Stories and Essays Inspired by Fabulous Las Vegas Postcards The postcard is a brilliant piece of pop culture. These simple, lightweight rectangles of good cheer serve many functions at once: They are glimpses of a special place, vessels of memory, fragments of story -- and, for those that survive, little capsules of history. That's especially true of postcards from Las Vegas, one of the most visually dynamic, changing, meaning-packed locales in the world. Inspired by iconic Sin City postcards, eight of the city's best writers delve deep into their imaginations to conceive short stories and essays that cast a fresh eye on a place you only think you know. The writers are Quentin R. Bufogle, Maile Chapman, Maxwell Alexander Drake, Lindsey Leavitt, Corey Levitan, Greg Blake Miller, Kristen Peterson and Lissa Townsend Rodgers. Editor: Scott Dickensheets. Inhaltsangabe: Wish You Were Here Stories and Essays Inspired by Fabulous Las Vegas Postcards

The postcard is a brilliant piece of pop culture.

Über den Autor: Scott Dickensheets is the editor of Las Vegas CityLife, and of CityLife Books. For nearly eight years he edited the Las Vegas Weekly, and before that served variously as an editor and writer at the Las Vegas Sun and at Las Vegas Life magazine. Over the years he has written for Playboy, Esquire, Desert Companion and many other magazines and websites, some now defunct, others just funct. Among the topics he’s written about: the MGM fire, murder, Andre Agassi and the funny side of death. A 40-year

Lissa Townsend Rodgers was born in bucolic upstate New York. (Sprung from the same soil as Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Ed Wood!) She eventually moved to New York City and then attended New York University, where she majored in journalism and minored in philosophy and cinema studies. (I'd see Joey Ramone on my way to class and he'd offer to carry my books.)

She worked as an editor for a number of publications/websites in NYC (Four Seasons Grammy parties and box seats at the Metropolitan Opera;

Kristen Peterson moved to Las Vegas from Minneapolis in 1993. She covered arts and culture for the Las Vegas Sun and is now a staff writer for the Las Vegas Weekly.

Greg Blake Miller's travels as a writer have taken him from the teeming, occasionally frozen boulevards of Moscow, Russia, to the idyllic, more-than-occasionally-soaked hills of Eugene, Oregon. But his hometown always seems to call him back, proving you can take the kid out of Vegas but you can't take Vegas out of the kid (even when he's not such a kid anymore).

Corey Levitan wrote the popular "Fear and Loafing" humor column for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He was named 2011 columnist of the year by the Nevada Press Association, four months after the Review-Journal named him no longer valuable enough to employ. Currently, he writes about what's left of his life for DAVID magazine, blogs about TV for MSN.com and runs a website, coreylevitan.com, that his mother thinks should be "toned down with the language a bit."
