His father was the local blacksmith, and his mother was a kind woman respected by everyone. Nothing ever changed in the village until a long column of soldiers arrived, temporarily disrupting day-to-day life. They soon left, but two weeks later, the leader of the soldiers came back alone, beaten, bloody and dying in the saddle. Before he died, he wove a strange tale of moving shadows. All figured it was the product of a confused and dying man. All but Aiden's father. One night, not long after the soldier died, Aiden's village was attacked. His parents hid him away. The next morning, Aiden emerged from his hiding place to discover everyone he had ever known was dead or gone. Aiden falls ill, and when he awakens, he discovers a man named Jarvis has found him. Jarvis was a wizard, and he took Aiden in and taught him the secrets of magic. Life was good again, at least for a little while. His friends were found dead, killed by an unknown foe, and he and Jarvis were attacked. Jarvis was killed, leaving Aiden alone again. Aiden sets out to find the people who had hurt him and everyone he had ever loved Aiden teams up with the greatest demon hunter who ever lived, Fain of the guardians, and together they set out to stop and immortal witch from conquering the world.
