Über den Autor: Jackie Cooke qualified as a speech language therapist in 1983 at the School for the Study of Disorders of Human Communication (now part of the City University, London). For nearly 10 years she worked with a variety of client groups in a wide range of settings within Lewisham and Southwark. Since 1986 she has specialised in the communication problems of children and adults with severe learning disabilities, becoming particularly interested in teaching social and sensory skills. In 1994 she gained an MSc in Human Communication from City University. She is currently working in the city of Coventry. Jackie is also author of 'Early Sensory Skills', published by Speechmark/Winslow in 1996. Diana Williams qualified as a speech language therapist from the School of Disorders of Human Communication, London in 1983. Since qualifying she has worked for several years in schools and nurseries with children who have communication difficulties. Diana completed an MSc in speech language therapy with deaf people at City University in 1992. Her research interests include the effectiveness of training programmes for education staff in the management of attention and listening difficulties. At present she is researching the use of multi-media to teach students clinical communication skills. She is currently working in Croydon. She is author of 'Early Listening Skills' (1995) and 'Early Visual Skills' (1998), both published by Speechmark/Winslow.
